Robin van Persie back in training
Robin van Persie has returned to full training after a month out with a thigh injury.
The striker, who has missed Manchester United’s last eight games, is not expected to be fit for Saturday’s home match against Swansea but should make his comeback soon and could be available for next Sunday’s trip to Chelsea.
It represents a rare boost for beleaguered manager David Moyes, who has also been without his other premier striker, Wayne Rooney, for the last two games.
Van Persie, who has scored 10 goals for United this season, has not featured since the 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, when he injured himself taking the corner that led to Phil Jones’ goal.
And the Netherlands international has only played twice in two months, with a groin problem ruling him out for four weeks after he scored the decider against his former club Arsenal on Nov. 5.
United, who have been beaten seven times in all competitions, are yet to lose this season when Van Persie and Rooney have started together.
Moyes is waiting to see if Rooney, who has an abductor problem, will be available to face Swansea but is certain to be without Rio Ferdinand, Marouane Fellaini and Nani.
