Sissoko shows signs of life at Spurs

U.S. sure Klinsmann will not join Spurs

United States Soccer Federation president Sunil Gulati has told The Sun he is confident Jurgen Klinsmann will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurgen Klinsmann only recently signed a new contract with the USMNT.

• Fitch: Levy making mistakes

Former Tottenham striker Klinsmann has been mentioned as a contender to replace Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane following the Portuguese's sacking on Monday.

But, after the German recently signed a contract extension with the USMNT, it seems that Klinsmann is set to remain in his current post ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

Gulati said: "We're not oblivious to the fact Jurgen's success has attracted interest from outside the US.

"Therefore there were pragmatic market considerations in offering him a new long-term contract.

"It's not specifically the Switzerland or Tottenham issues -- but the desire to have a commitment from him, contractually, for a long time is vital."

Villas-Boas was dismissed after Spurs suffered a 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Sunday, having already been heavily beaten 6-0 at Manchester City this season.
