Cabaye happy to stay at Newcastle

Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye is expecting to be the subject of more transfer speculation during the January window, but he has insisted he is content to remain on Tyneside.

Arsenal made a bid for Cabaye in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, with Newcastle manager Alan Pardew admitting the Frenchman "had his head turned" by the interest from the north London club.

Pardew has expressed a concern that there may be renewed interest in his in-form midfielder next month, but he will be warmed by the words of Cabaye, even though he appears to hint he would be tempted by a move to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain.

"I know that, in January, the rumours will start all over again," he is quoted in the Daily Mirror. "I'd like to know who does not want to play for Paris Saint-Germain?

"I feel great, confident - especially compared to last season. It was the first time in my career I played a relegation battle. This season we are well placed.

"I feel very good, I want it to be a big season, to try to finish as high as possible while thinking about the World Cup next summer."

Cabaye played a key role in guiding France to the World Cup finals next summer and he will be keen to ensure he is a regular in his club side heading into the finals in Brazil next summer, enhancing Newcastle's hopes of clinging onto their prized asset.
