Patrice Evra hints at Man United exit

Patrice Evra has hinted that he may leave Manchester United next summer for personal reasons, even though he believes the Premier League champions are keen to keep him at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.

Evra criticised for 'parasites' comments

The left-back’s current contract expires in June 2014 and he was asked if he was concerned that a new deal has not been agreed.

"No, not at all [concerned]. It is a personal thing," he told French television programme Telefoot.

United failed in attempts to sign two other left-backs this summer with Everton rejecting three bids for England international Leighton Baines and a late move to take Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao on loan breaking down.

But despite that Evra, 32, is adamant that the club want him to stay and suggested he is likely to depart because of other factors.

"It is not that Manchester United do not want me to sign a new contract," he added. "This whole thing is personal. Manchester United would like me to finish my career there, but this is something personal."

Evra joined United from Monaco for 5.5 million pounds in January 2006 and became the first-choice left-back later that year.

He has gone on to make 340 appearances for the club, winning the Premier League five times and the Champions League once, and has often captained United when Nemanja Vidic has been absent.
