Laudrup: Swansea not in for Di Santo

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has dismissed suggestions Wigan striker Franco di Santo could be headed for the Liberty Stadium this summer, revealing the Swans are "looking for a different kind of player".

Di Santo has been touted as a back-up striker to Wiflried Bony, who joined Swansea for a club record  £12 million from Vitesse Arnhem.

Although Laudrup is still eager to sign another forward to relieve last season's top goalscorer Michu of some pressure, the Dane insists a move for either Di Santo or Espanyol's Ghana midfielder Wakaso Mubarak is not on the cards.

"I think Di Santo is a good player, but I don't think he has the characteristics we are looking for," Laudrup told BBC Sport. "I am looking for a different kind of player. But every day I read we are going for this player or that player, a Dutch player and then Ghanaian player.

"If I signed half of the players we have been linked to I would have 35 players here. I have also spent a certain amount of money, so it won't be a big signing but for me it doesn't matter. If it's a big player on loan from a big club... it's about the quality."

In addition to Bony, Swansea have signed Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo, Jordi Amat, Jose Canas, Jernade Meade, Jonathan de Guzman, Gregor Zabret and Alex Gogic already this summer.
