Carroll 'holding out for £100,000-a-week'

Andy Carroll is reportedly requesting a 25% pay rise to £100,000-a-week if he is to complete a £15.5 million move from Liverpool to West Ham.

Carroll has scored just one goal for West Ham since joining them on loan in the summer
West Ham are hopeful of completing a deal for Andy Carroll

- Cole: Carroll should make move

Carroll, 24, had his £80,000-a-week Anfield salary paid by the Hammers while on loan at the club last season.

Sam Allardyce’s men are hoping to make the striker’s stay at Upton Park permanent for next term and have already agreed a fee with the Reds.

However, the East London club may have a problem paying the player’s wages, with Carroll – who is out injured for up to four months due to an ankle injury – wanting a £20,000-a-week pay rise.

West Ham, though, are unwilling to meet such high wage demands and are hopeful of reaching a compromise with the player by the end of the week.

Newcastle also appeared to be interested in acquiring Carroll on a permanent deal, however, the Magpies have recently made it clear that they have no plans to resign the England international.
