Fiorentina keen to sign Liverpool's Borini

Fiorentina have said they would be interested in signing forward Fabio Borini from Liverpool, but doubt the Merseysiders would allow him to leave.

Fabio Borini has endured a frustrating start to his Liverpool career
Borini's season has been disrupted by injuries

Borini, 21, joined the Anfield club in a €13 million move in the summer, but has suffered with injuries and been limited to only nine appearances so far.

The player is expected to miss the rest of the season after dislocating his shoulder during the weekend’s home win over Swansea, but Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade said he hoped to bring him to the club.

“We seek a striker with a hunger for goals in their DNA, a player who lives for goals,” he told Radio Toscana. "We like Fabio Borini, but it's hard to see that Liverpool will let him go.”

Borini’s agent has said he believes the player’s future will be at Anfield and that he could be fit in time to play for Italy at the Under-21 European Championships in the summer.

“He’ll be examined in England and in Italy over the next few days,” Marco De Marchi told TMW. “The medics will need to decide whether surgery is needed or not.

“If that is the case [that surgery is needed], then his season with Liverpool will basically be over. The hope is that the boy at least recovers in time for the European Championship with his national side at the end of the season.

“His future is definitely at Liverpool. He’s signed a long-term deal with one of the most glorious sides in the world game.”
