Stoke loan Edu to Bursaspor

Maurice Edu has completed a loan move to Turkish club Bursaspor - in a bid to prove he still has a long-term future at Stoke City.

Edu has failed to make an impact at the Britannia Stadium following his free transfer move from Glasgow Rangers on transfer deadline day in August.

And Stoke manager Tony Pulis has sanctioned a loan with the Turkish club until the end of the season after Edu held successful talks with with Bursaspor on Wednesday.

Bursaspor moved for Edu this week when they were seeking a replacement for Alfred N’Diaye following his transfer to Sunderland.

Edu has been restricted to just one substitute appearance this season and Pulis is keen for the 26-year-old to get some football for the remainder of the season.

He said: "We need to get him some games and a loan until the end of the season will do that. He hasn't got any games here and it has been disappointing for Maurice not to play. He needs to play games to maintain his chance of playing for his country.

"We have had offers in England as well so he has one or two options. Having bought him, but him not getting in the team, we can monitor him now for the next three or four months."

Pulis has revealed he plans to hold talks with Jermaine Pennant over the next few days, following the winger's early return from a loan spell with Championship side Wolves.

Pennant will not be considered for Saturday's squad against Swansea City, but Pulis has not completely closed the door on the possibility of Pennant remaining at the club.

"He has come back early. Wolves have sent him back so he is one of our players again.  I will speak to Jermaine because I haven't had chance yet to sit down with him and have a good conversation and find out about how things have gone at Wolves.

"Then we'll take it from there. He will be treated the same as all the other lads at the club."

Pulis has also refused to discuss the details of Swansea's rejected £3 million offer for striker Kenwyne Jones, ahead of the meeting between the two sides on Saturday.

Stoke are believed to value Jones close to the £5 million mark and Pulis said: "If there's going to be anything done in this country with another football club, we'll do our business with the clubs.

"If we sell Kenwyne, I'll speak to you about it. If we don't sell Kenwyne, I'll speak to you about it. "
