Man United's James Wilson: Brighton confident of gaining promotion

Manchester United loanee James Wilson says Brighton & Hove Albion are full of confidence after his vital goal set up a thrilling climax to the Championship season.

Wilson, 20, scored a late equaliser at Derby on Monday, rescuing a 1-1 draw, to ensure that third-placed Brighton's unbeaten run continues.

They have not lost in their past 13 games and face second-placed Middlesbrough in the final match of the season on Saturday knowing that a win will secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Wilson appeared twice for United at the start of the season -- playing against Arsenal and Middlesbrough -- before joining Brighton on loan in November, where he has gone on to score five goals.

"I just peeled off at the back post and knew he could not get much power on the header away," Wilson told The Argus of his goal against Derby. "I just watched it come down and put it into the net.

"It's given us great confidence going into the last game. Going into the last game on a defeat is probably the worst way to do it. We have got a point so we're going up to Middlesbrough with some confidence."

Middlesbrough need just a point on Saturday to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League ahead of Brighton, with Burnley achieving their place in the top flight next season after Monday's win against Queens Park Rangers.
