Hull boss Steve Bruce unhappy about Tom Ince sale

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has expressed his frustration that Tom Ince was allowed to join Derby County.

Ince joined Hull when his Blackpool contract expired last year but was sent out for loan spells at Championship clubs Nottingham Forest and Derby after having limited impact at the KC Stadium.

On Friday, Derby signed the player on a permanent deal reported to be worth £5 million, but Bruce said that, after relegation last season, Ince had been key to his plans to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

"I certainly wouldn't have sold Tom and I did all I could to keep him," Bruce said in the Daily Mirror.

"We shouldn't be selling our top young players when trying to put together a team to challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League.

"I saw Tom as an integral part of my plans, but Derby met the buy-out clause and then it was the choice of others to let him leave."
