Bournemouth go top of Championship, Norwich stay in promotion hunt

Bournemouth jumped back to the top of the Championship with a 3-0 home win over automatic promotion rivals Middlesbrough in the lunchtime kickoff.

Eddie Howe's side climbed back into pole position after producing one of their best performances of the season and remain there after overnight leaders Watford were undone by Richard Chaplow's stoppage-time winner in a 1-0 home defeat to Ipswich.

Yann Kermorgant's penalty gave Bournemouth an early lead against Middlesbrough and Harry Arter crashed home from long range early in the second half. Brett Pitman converted Bournemouth's second penalty in the 74th minute.

Watford drop to second and Middlesbrough third, while Norwich stayed in contention for a top-two finish with a 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest.

Jonny Howson's strike in first-half stoppage-time gave Norwich the lead at Carrow Road. Cameron Jerome added a second and Wes Hoolahan converted a 59th-minute penalty.

Chris Burke later scored a 76th-minute consolation for the visitors.

In the Championship's other lunchtime kickoff, promotion-chasing Brentford dealt Millwall's survival fight another blow by hitting back from two goals down with five minutes remaining at Griffin Park to draw 2-2.

Goals from Lee Gregory and Aiden O'Brien set Millwall on course for their first win in nine matches, but Alex Pritchard converted an 85th-minute penalty after Martyn Woolford's foul on Alan Judge and Moses Odubajo rifled home a stoppage-time equaliser.

Charlton fell behind to Pavel Pogrebnyak's goal just before half-time against Reading, but Yoni Buyens' second-half double, the first from the penalty spot, and Simon Church late on helped secure a 3-2 home win.

Pogrebnyak struck his second deep into time added on, after team-mate Daniel Williams had been sent off.

Gary Madine headed bottom club Blackpool into the lead against Leeds just before the interval, but Mirco Antenucci equalised for the visitors to ensure a 1-1 draw.

Rotherham's hopes of avoiding relegation were dealt a blow in a dramatic 3-2 home defeat to derby rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The Millers led 1-0 after 85 minutes through Ben Pringle, and Caolan Lavery's equaliser was only the start of the story.

Jordan Bowery restored Rotherham's advantage in the 87th minute but Atdhe Nuhiu and Kieran Lee scored in the third and eighth minutes of added time.

Wigan's Martyn Waghorn also fired a stoppage-time equaliser to cancel out Tom Walker's 70th-minute effort for Bolton and seal a 1-1 draw, but the Latics remain without a home win since August.

Eoin Doyle struck his first goal for Cardiff to give them the lead against Birmingham and Peter Whittingham sealed a 2-0 victory from the penalty spot.

Matt Kilgallon's first-half own goal secured Brighton a 1-0 win at Blackburn and Huddersfield's Nahki Wells missed two second-half penalties against visitors Fulham, who won 2-0 thanks to Alex Kacaniklic and Seko Fofana.
