Norwich beat Brentford to move into top spot in Championship

Norwich took advantage of playing a day ahead of Nottingham Forest by powering to the top of the Championship table with a 3-0 win at Brentford.

Alex Tettey put the Canaries ahead in the 68th minute and then Cameron Jerome netted twice, the second of which was a spectacular long-range strike.

Watford also edged above Forest, for the time being at least, after a 68th-minute Matej Vydra penalty proved enough to secure maximum points in a 1-0 triumph at struggling Blackpool.

Wolves had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Charlton, with Danny Batth equalising after Andre Bikey-Amougou had put the Addicks in front.

Caretaker boss Neil Redfearn boosted his hopes of getting the Leeds job on a permanent basis with a 3-1 success at Bournemouth, where Andrew Surman put the Cherries in front early on but United hit back through Souleymane Doukara, Giuseppe Bellusci and Mirco Antenucci.

Stevie May and Jeremy Helan hit the target as Sheffield Wednesday won 2-0 at Birmingham, while Ipswich beat Brighton 2-0 at Portman Road thanks to goals from Jonathan Parr and Daryl Murphy.

Enrique Garcia Martinez put Middlesbrough ahead 1-0 at Cardiff after just two minutes and that was how it stayed, while Huddersfield and Wigan drew 0-0.

Struggling Bolton enjoyed a welcome boost when edging out Rotherham 3-2 thanks to a Joe Mason hat-trick, and Simon Cox struck twice as Reading beat Millwall 3-2 to register a third successive league win.
