Jay Spearing could become the next player to leave Liverpool, with Blackburn interested in signing the midfielder.
Rovers hope to bring in the 24-year-old, a source told ESPN, and it is expected that he will be allowed to leave Anfield.
Spearing, valued at around £1.5 million, has made only three appearances for Liverpool since Brendan Rodgers replaced Kenny Dalglish as manager last year.
The manager has made four signings this summer – goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, defender Kolo Toure, winger Luis Alberto and forward Iago Aspas – but because of the players Liverpool have sold, he has only spent around £3 million.
Spearing, a graduate of Liverpool’s youth system, has made 55 appearances for them and started the 2012 FA Cup final.
He spent most of last season on loan at Bolton, playing 39 times and winning Wanderers’ Player of the Year award.
Meanwhile, Blackburn are considering whether to sell Sweden international left-back Martin Olsson, a target for Norwich.
