Defender Bridge makes Reading move

Defender Wayne Bridge has agreed a one-year contract with Reading to become Nigel Adkins’ first signing as Royals manager.

Bridge, 32, who spent last season on loan at Championship Brighton from Manchester City, will attempt to help the Berkshire club bounce back to the Premier League following last season’s relegation.

The former Southampton, Chelsea and Manchester City left-back said he was looking forward to the challenge after helping Brighton reach the Championship play-offs, where they were beaten by Crystal Palace.
