Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley: We have one in 1,000 chance at Arsenal

Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley has said the club will benefit from their outstanding FA Cup run and have a "one in 1,000" chance of winning their quarterfinal at Arsenal on Saturday.

The National League leaders began the run in the fourth qualifying round against Guiseley and have since seen off Championship sides Ipswich and Brighton and Premier League Burnley.

They have become the first non-league team since 1914 to reach the quarterfinals of the world's oldest knockout competition.

And Cowley said: "We are going to try to learn loads, because that is the best thing this FA Cup journey has given us.

"We have had the opportunity to pit our wits against the very best, the opportunity to be involved in really big games.

"We are determined to come out better from this experience."

He said that if Lincoln "can play at our very best under all of the scrutiny of playing against world-class players in front of 60,000 people" at the Emirates Stadium they would be "better individually and collectively."

While being realistic about the prospects of his team, who will be backed by around 9,000 supporters, upsetting Arsenal, Cowley is determined not to let the occasion get to them.

"We understand that the chance is probably one in 1,000, but we will go there with the belief that this can be the one time," he said.

"We will go there with a game plan and try to execute it. We know what is in front of us, but it is not every Saturday you wake up with such an opportunity."
