Arsenal's Mesut Ozil set to start vs. Brighton, Krystian Bielek 'not fit'

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger said Mesut Ozil is likely to start Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round clash at Brighton but revealed new signing Krystian Bielik is not fit.

Ozil has not started a match since he damaged knee ligaments in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat against Chelsea in early October, but the German World Cup winner is now available once more.

Ozil remained on the bench for Sunday's 2-0 win at Manchester City but, asked if would play against Brighton, Wenger said: "It is likely."

However, Bielik, who signed from Legia Warsaw on Wednesday, is unlikely to make a first-team appearance for the foreseeable future.

Wenger told reporters last week that the teenager would be thrown straight into his first team squad this season but he said on Thursday: "He comes from Poland, has just turned 17 and is not fit.

"They have had their winter break in Poland and that is quite long. He is at the start to get back to full fitness and he is back in three weeks."

Meanwhile, Wenger has warned his side that they will need to adopt the attitude that saw them past City if they are to defeat Chris Hughton's Brighton side.

"What happened last weekend helps to strengthen our confidence, but I think the attitude of the players all season and the desire to do well has been extremely good all season," he said. "The basics have not changed. We have a bit more belief and more strength in our belief now.

"Brighton will be a tough test for us. Chris Hughton will give them his experience and he knows how to prepare a team for a challenge like this. For us the challenge is to turn up with the same spirit and show that we can be consistent with the same attitude.

"We know that is needed. This is another big challenge for us to go there and come home with a positive result."

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with a groin problem, and Hector Bellerin, who has an ankle injury, are both doubts for the game at the Amex Stadium.
