Eighth-tier Hyde United to host MK Dons in FA Cup first round

Hyde United, from the eighth tier of English football, have been handed a home draw against League One MK Dons in the FA Cup first round.

Hyde, who sit seventh in the Evo-Stik North table, beat Scarborough on Sunday to earn a place in the draw and earn the chance to welcome one of the round's bigger names to Ewen Fields.

Former Sutton keeper Wayne Shaw admits naivety in 'piegate' role

Former Sutton goalkeeper Wayne Shaw has admitted he was "naive'' with regard to the "piegate" controversy that led to him leaving the club and being sanctioned by the Football Association.

The 45-year-old was seen eating a pie on the bench during giant-killing Sutton's televised FA Cup loss to Arsenal in February -- something a bookmaker had offered odds on the likelihood of him doing.

Shaw left the National League outfit -- in May he said it had been "a situation where I either resigned or they...

Shaw ate a pie on the substitutes' bench as Sutton lost out to the Gunners, and the charge of influencing betting markets, which...

The 72-year-old, a veteran of 10 World Cups and more than 200 England matches, will call time on an eventful BBC career behind the microphone after a "farewell tour" of 18 Premier League matches this season and an appearance in the television station's FA Cup final programme.

For two generations Motson was the voice of football for many but he has decided...

Football Association considering changes to FA Cup beginning in 2022

The FA Cup could see changes beginning in 2022.

The disruption to the domestic season caused by Qatar's winter World Cup in 2022 could result in permanent changes to English football, including moving FA Cup games to midweek and scrapping more replays.

Recent seasons have seen the Football Association give up replays from the quarterfinals onward but, with the Premier League eager to move midweek fixtures to weekends, more room needs to be created in the calendar.

This may mean no replays after the third round and it could even see fourth- and...
