Willy Caballero 8/10 as Chelsea slump to defeat in Community Shield

The Maurizio Sarri era at Chelsea got off to an uncertain start with a comprehensive 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.

The Blues were second best for the entire contest as they struggled to create anything in the final third and rarely tested Claudio Bravo in the City goal. Their opponents looked far more refined and familiar in their patterns of play and it took them just 13 minutes to open the scoring, with Sergio Aguero firing home after Phil Foden ran unchallenged...

Manchester City 'really impressed' by Sergio Aguero's recovery from knee surgery - Pep Guardiola

LONDON -- Pep Guardiola said he believes Sergio Aguero could be even better this season after a knee operation removed a long-term problem, after the forward scored twice in the the Community Shield victory over Chelsea.

The Argentina striker scored his 200th goal of his City career to open the scoring in the first half before adding another a second as Guardiola's side picked up their first silverware of the season with a 2-0 win at Wembley.

Bernardo Silva 9/10 as Man City stroll to shield win vs. Chelsea

An absolutely fabulous 2017-18 does not seem to have dulled the spirit as City set about an experimental Chelsea side with vim and vigour. By the end, a master-class by Willy Caballero against his old teammates was the only thing hindering Man City from running up a cricket score as they settled for a 2-0 victory.

Positives

The sun-drenched stroll afforded Pep Guardiola the chance to blood some of the club's promising youngsters as the second half wound down in simple fashion.

Manchester City's Phil Foden ready to make impact in Premier League - Pep Guardiola

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said Phil Foden was ready to play a role in the Premier League after the 18-year-old's impressive display in Sunday's 2-0 Community Shield win over Chelsea.

Foden, who made five substitute appearances in the league last season and also featured in the League Cup and the Champions League, started at Wembley as he has in preseason friendlies and set up Sergio Aguero's first goal.

After the game Guardiola, asked on BT Sport whether the teenager was ready to play...

Man City ease to Community Shield victory over work-in-progress Chelsea

LONDON -- Three points from Man City's comfortable 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield.

1. Man City cruise to easy victory

Ultimately, Sunday's victory wasn't a massive shock, as it was expected that last season's Premier League champions, with a settled squad and genius of a manager, would easily beat a side who started preseason training with the old coach in charge and have thus barely had time to get used to their new manager, Maurizio Sarri.

Still, Manchester City's amble to...
