Daniel Sturridge to start over Harry Kane for England vs. Scotland - reports

England interim manager Gareth Southgate is set to start Daniel Sturridge up front against Scotland on Friday, according to British newspaper reports.

Sturridge, 27, has not scored in the Premier League for Liverpool this season, and has made Jurgen Klopp's starting XI on four occasions.

But The Guardian, The Sun and the Daily Mail report he will be given the nod over Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.

Kane, 23, has only recently returned from a seven-week injury absence so is expected to be on the bench for this week's World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

This means Sturridge will lead the line with Wayne Rooney to captain the side in the No. 10 role.

England are top of Group F after three games while Gordon Strachan's Scotland are fourth in the six-team standings.
