England to face Germany at Dortmund in first friendly match of 2017

England have announced that they will play a friendly against Germany at Borussia Dortmund in March.

The fixture, England's first of 2017, will be played on Wednesday March 22.

It comes four days ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley.

England beat Germany 3-2 in a Berlin friendly earlier this year thanks to strikes from Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier.

Dier's dramatic stoppage-time header completed a stunning comeback against the world champions after Kane and Vardy had wiped out a two-goal deficit.

That win raised English hopes of glory at Euro 2016. Instead, they crashed out to Iceland in the last 16 and have since lost Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce, after one match, as managers.

Interim boss Gareth Southgate has taken four points from his first two games in charge of the national side.
