England fans warned over Euro 2016 ticket, hotel packages

England fans have been warned against buying unauthorised tickets and hospitality packages for the Euro 2016 finals in France, which could put their security at risk.

The Three Lions are set to tackle Russia at Stade Velodrome in Marseille on June 11, before meeting Wales at Lens' Stade Bollaert-Delelis, with a final Group B match set for St Etienne's Stade Geoffroy-Guichard -- against Slovakia.

UEFA officials have received alerts about numerous attempts to sell tickets to English fans which had been allocated to Russian supporters, which despite the security measures in place could see those supporters who bought on the black market end up in the wrong section of the ground.

The governing body has already moved to take down numerous unauthorised websites illegitimately offering to buy or sell tickets for this summer's championships.

A solicitor acting for UEFA, Nick Bitel, said, "England fans have a great tradition of following the-ir team abroad, but they must not be tempted by these seemingly respectable sites offering tickets for England matches at UEFA Euro 2016.

"There is a high risk that even if genuine tickets are delivered, supporters will find themselves with tickets for enclosures reserved for opposing fans."

It is a criminal offence to resell tickets for England matches.

The Football Association runs its own England Supporters Travel Club and always urges fans to only purchase tickets via official channels.
