England under-19s beat Spain to book European Championship spot

England under-19s qualified for this summer's U19 European Championship after a 2-0 win over hosts and reigning champions Spain in the elite round qualifier.

After victory over Georgia and a draw with Greece last week, England set up a winner-takes-all-clash with Spain in the Cuidad de Lepe and booked their place in the finals courtesy of goals from Tottenham's Joshua Onomah and Adam Armstrong of Newcastle.

Onomah, 19, continued his fine season by beating the offside and calmly slotting past Spain's goalkeeper to give England a sixth-minute lead, before substitute Armstrong, on loan at Coventry, wrapped up victory in the second half with a stunning curling effort from outside the box.

Netherlands, Portugal, France and Austria also qualified on Tuesday to join Croatia and hosts Germany, while Turkey and Italy meet for the final berth on Wednesday.
