Wilfried Zaha in England contention for Euro U21s Championship - Southgate

Wilfried Zaha could still play at the European Under-21 Championship finals for England this summer, head coach Gareth Southgate has said.

Zaha, 22, has not played for England U21s since November 2013, while he has not featured for the senior side since August of that year.

Having secured a permanent transfer from Manchester United to Crystal Palace in January, the winger has recently been in improved form in the Premier League.

And Southgate, whose England U21s side face Germany on Monday, said in The Sun: "We have always said with Wilf that the door is never closed.

"The move to Manchester United never worked out and we have had other forwards who have been in good form.

"He drifted out of our group at the end of the season, but I understand he is playing well.

"Wilf has not been with us for the last year, so he's going to have to play really well to force his way in. But you have to look at players who are in form so it would be foolish to rule anyone out."

England U21s take on Italy, Portugal and Sweden in Group B at this summer's tournament in the Czech Republic.
