Jack Colback will miss England's Euro qualifying match vs. Switzerland

England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback is out of next Monday's vital Euro 2016 qualifier in Switzerland after picking up a calf injury in training.

Colback was a surprise name in Hodgson's squad for the game against Norway at Wembley and the trip to Basel, but he was denied the chance to receive his first senior international after picking up a knock training with England.

"Jack Colback has had to leave us," confirmed Hodgson. "He took a very nasty kick on the back of the calf.

"We were hoping he would train with us, but he can't do that, so it's better to send him back to Newcastle."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will now be hoping the midfielder he signed on a free transfer this summer will be fit in time to face Southampton in the Premier League on September 13th.

Hodgson went on to confirm that Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will be fit to play in Switzerland despite suffering an ankle knock in the Norway game.
