David Beharall
Club: Newcastle United
Shirt Number: 27
Position: Defender
Date of Birth: March 8, 1979
Birthplace: Newcastle
Height: 6' 2''
Weight: 11.7

Profile:

A local lad who is determined to make the grade with Newcastle United.

Beharall is a tall defender who has captained both the youth and reserves - something which should stand him in good stead to break into the first team picture on a regular basis.

Made his Magpies debut in April 1999 in a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Everton.

But he suffered knee ligament damage in February 2000 which halted his progress. Has stated he is willing to go out on loan to gain the experience which will help him force himself into Newcastle's defence.

Beharall said: 'I want to get a few reserve games under my belt and then hopefully challenge for a place in the first team squad. But I know I need more experience and would consider going out on loan if it would help me establish myself at Newcastle.'

He did just that in August 2001 when joining First Division Grimsby Town for a temporary spell which lasted three months. Impressed greatly in his 15 game run.

On his return to St James', he moved to Second Division side Oldham Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season. Made his Latics debut in a 0-0 draw at Stoke City.
