Frankfurt on song

Constant Djakpa fires home Eintracht Frankfurt's third goal.

Eintracht Frankfurt eased to victory in their Europa League opener against Bordeaux to make it five wins from their last six matches in all competitions.

The German side brushed aside their Ligue 1 opponents with apparent ease, with Vaclav Kadlec, Marco Russ and Constant Djakpa all on target in the opening hour.

Bordeaux lost any chance of getting back into the game when Lucas Orban saw red in the 62nd minute but Frankfurt failed to add to their tally despite the numerical advantage.

Kadlec got the ball rolling inside four minutes, getting on the end of Stefan Aigner's pass to finish low to the keeper's right from six yards,

Bordeaux responded well to the setback, seeing more of the ball in the next 10 minutes and fashioning a couple of long-range chances -- though Diego Rolan and Gregory Sertic did little of note with them.

Kadlec was closer when he found another opening from close range and it was 2-0 to the home side after 16 minutes when Russ converted Tranquillo Barnetta's corner with his right foot.

Again, the French side attempted to muster a response but could not create the killer opening.

At the other end Russ and Kadlec both had chances to add to their goals only to be denied by brave defending.

Carlos Henrique's header just after the break was saved by Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp and by 52 minutes the lead was three.

Rolan fouled Sebastian Rode, giving Djakpa a chance to seal the points and he did so with a neat free-kick from 20 yards.

Orban was dismissed with 28 minutes remaining, penalised for a professional foul on Aigner but despite several chances for the hosts they did not make the extra man count.
