Managerless Blades eye welcome win

Struggling Sheffield United start life following the sacking of first-team manager David Weir with a trip to Coventry on Sunday.

The Blades disposed of Weir's services on Friday evening having won just one of their 10 league fixtures this term, with Under-21 coach Chris Morgan, goalkeeping coach Darren Ward and head of academy coaching Travis Binnion taking charge at Sixfields.

The interim trio will be without goalkeeper George Long (England Under-21s), defender Sean McGinty (Republic of Ireland Under-21s) and striker Marlon King (Jamaica), who have all been selected by their respective countries this week.

Florent Cuvelier is still struggling with an unspecified knock that kept him out on Tuesday night and fellow midfielder Callum McFadzean (ankle) is expected to miss out again as the Blades chase their first win in 13 matches.

Coventry captain Carl Baker faces a late fitness test but Cyrus Christie has been ruled out for a month.

Midfielder Baker has missed the last three matches due to a calf injury and will be assessed as late as possible.

Right-back Christie is sidelined for a month with the ankle injury sustained in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Stevenage.

Jordan Willis stepped in for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at Leyton Orient before hobbling off himself to be replaced by Aaron Phillips, although he has recovered and is fit to face United.
