Jags skipper Paton misses out

Partick captain Paul Paton looks set to miss the Ramsdens Cup Final against Queen of the South at Livingston's Braidwood Motor Company Stadium due to a knee injury he sustained against Cowdenbeath last week.

The Jags will also be without Hugh Murray, who has a foot problem, while their recent captures from Dunfermline, Jordan McMillan and Andy Dowie, are both missing as they are cup-tied.

Partick player-boss Alan Archibald, who may include himself in the squad, said: ``If Paul does not make it we will be without quite a bit of experience.

``There is a real sense of excitement as it is our club's first-ever final in this competition and our first final of any kind in over 40 years. We are both attack-minded teams so it should be a cracker.''

Queen of the South will be without at least three key players from their Second Division Championship-winning side.

Kevin Holt and Ryan McGuffie are suspended and Paul Burns is cup-tied, with Doonhamers boss Allan Johnston hoping that Willie Gibson can shake off a leg injury in time.

Johnston said: ``We are missing a few players, but we have a strong squad and a strong mentality in the squad, so we are looking forward to the final.

``Partick have good strikers and good defenders, but then again so do we so it is a very difficult game to predict the outcome.

``We will go about things as we have all season and see where that takes us.''
