Dorchester aim for cup upset

Dorchester manager Phil Simkin will hand a late fitness test to Sam Malsom ahead of Sunday's FA Cup first-round clash against Plymouth.

The 24-year-old winger, who has been out with an ankle injury, could return in time to be included in Simkin's matchday squad.

On-loan striker Jamie Reid is expected to start up front for the Magpies after Exeter extended his loan by three days to allow him to feature in the clash.

The game will be televised and it is estimated that an additional 2,500 people will watch the game at the Avenue Stadium.

Simkin spoke about the importance of a good cup run as well as performing well in the league. He told the Plymouth Herald: ``I'm delighted with the way the season has gone so far and I'm hoping with the money we make from our FA Cup run the club will invest a bit more in our budget.''

Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the televised tie.

Captain Darren Purse missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Rotherham on Saturday because of a persistent toe problem and it remains to be seen whether the centre-back will return for the trip.

In his absence Curtis Nelson stepped in at the heart of the Pilgrims defence and impressed the manager.

``I thought Nelse came in and did well,'' Fletcher told the Plymouth Herald. ``Obviously, we missed Darren because of his size, which we could have done with, but Nelse stood firm and won a high percentage of his headers.''

Paul Wotton remains a long-term injury absentee for Argyle after undergoing a back operation last month, but fellow midfielder Conor Hourihane is available again having missed the trip to Rotherham after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Loanees Scott Griffiths and Guy Madjo have been given permission from their parent clubs to feature for Argyle but Burnley striker Alex MacDonald can not.
