Bridges gap for Chelmsford

Chelmsford will be without central midfielder David Bridges for the FA Cup clash with near-neighbours Colchester at the Melbourne Stadium.

Centre-back Mark Haines has been declared fit after recovering from injury while playmaker Max Cornhill, who suffered a nasty cut in the midweek 2-0 win at AFC Hornchurch, is also likely to be available.

That victory moved Chelmsford into second place in Blue Square South after a seven-match unbeaten run ahead of the visit of their npower League One opponents.

Manager Glenn Pennyfather said: ``We were lucky enough last year to be live on the television for the first time in the club's history and again, this year, we're into the rounds where people are sitting up and taking notice of Chelmsford City.

``That's fantastic. It will be a brilliant day at Melbourne with a full house and it will certainly get the interest of all local people.

``It's a great day for Essex as a whole. We want to entertain and get a few extra people through the gate who enjoy it and like what they see.''

Brian Wilson will miss out for Colchester through suspension.

Right-back Wilson received his fifth booking of the season during last weekend's 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury and now serves an automatic one-match ban.

Captain Anthony Wordsworth does however return to contention having missed out against the Shrews due to a one-match suspension of his own.

Craig Eastmond and Sanchez Watt have both been given permission to play by Arsenal while fellow loanee Jabo Ibehre has also been handed clearance by parent club MK Dons.

All three are set to start as the U's look to get one over on their local rivals, with midfielder John-Joe O'Toole also putting himself in firm contention with a hat-trick for the club's second string in midweek while Freddie Sears and Drey Wright also bagged braces.
