Hannover 96 v Eintracht Frankfurt: Preview

Hannover's first taste of life as Europa League spectators this week has given them extra motivation for when they host Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow.

Elimination from the competition to Anzhi Makhachkala in the last round meant that the Reds were not in action during a European week for the first time this season, and it was something they missed so much they are now determined to ensure they are involved again next season

Just three points separate them from a place in the top six, and they hope to bridge that gap tomorrow.

``That is certainly a huge motivation for us to get the points tomorrow,'' said coach Mirko Slomka, looking back on two years of fond memories in Europe.

Victory would also take the Reds to within two points of their opponents, who are currently in fourth place.

They too are considering the prospect of European football next season, and thinking ahead to that, they have signed striker Jan Rosenthal from Freiburg.

He will join the club in the summer and coach Armin Veh is looking forward to working with him.

``Jan is a top-class player who I have been watching for many years,'' he said.

``He is a versatile player and fits in with the philosophy of Eintracht Frankfurt, and he's a fine lad.''

He cannot help the Eagles yet, however, and Veh could certainly have done with him to boost an attack which has not found the back of the net in four matches.

``Of course it is a shame when you create so many chances and the ball doesn't go in,'' said Veh at a press conference.

``But I am not worried about the fact we are not scoring any goals, and I am not putting the players under pressure.

``The way we are playing is good and the goals will come again soon.''

Midfielder Alexander Meier is Frankfurt's top goalscorer with 12 goals, yet he has not found the back of the net in the last six matches.
