Stade de Reims v Brest: Preview

Reims assistant coach Olivier Guegan is targeting a win against former club Brest as they look to up their intensity ahead of the winter break.

Reims are winless in five games and face a Brest side who have not gained any points away from home in Ligue 1 this season.

They are currently 12th in the overall standings, one place and one point above Reims, who are only three points above the bottom three.

Guegan spent five seasons playing for Brest before he made the switch to Reims in 2009, giving him more of an inside track on what to expect in tomorrow night's match at the Stade Auguste Delaune.

``Brest is a team that plays in the same part of the league as us. This is a direct competitor for survival,'' Guegan told maville.com.

``They have lost their seven away games, but we will have to be very careful because this is a team that is growing.

``I saw their match against Bastia, they were consistent. But we're prepared. Personally, I know the values of this club. We know that we will fight, and it will not be easy.

``If we win, we will have 18 points in 14 games. It is important to gather these points before the break, because the second half of the season will be fierce.

``This match against Brest is not really a turning point, but it is a fixture that is already very important.''

Brest will be without injured Alexandre Alphonse who is recovering from an Achilles injury and midfielder Adama Ba is out with a back problem. Richard Soumah (knee) and Ousmane Coulibaly (groin) are also not included in the squad.
