Stade Rennes v Valenciennes: Preview

Valenciennes boss Daniel Sanchez has urged his side to bounce back from their 4-0 humbling against Paris St Germain.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick as the big-spending Parisians brushed aside VA, who have been one of the surprise packages in Ligue 1 this season despite Tuesday's setback.

They travel to Rennes tomorrow knowing a win could move them up to fourth in the table and Sanchez has challenged his side to put the PSG loss behind them and collect at least four points from their two remaining games before the two-week winter break.

``We should not be traumatised by the defeat against PSG and must move on. This defeat must instead make us want to go to Rennes and get a result,'' he told the club's official website.

``We are able to do so. Reaching 30 points (before the winter break) is still possible, it would be wonderful to do so.''

They will likely be without defender Mody Traore and midfield duo Pape Camara and Gael Danic due to injury and Sanchez has admitted his squad are being stretched to their limit.

Nevertheless, centre-back Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, who spent two years at Rennes as a youth-team player, has plenty of confidence and is relishing the chance to meet up with former colleagues.

He said: ``We must try to build on this good start by getting the victory in Rennes. There, I will be pleased to see friends who I played with such as (Abdoulaye) Diallo, (Yann) M'Vila, (Yassine) Jebbour. But friendship is for off the pitch, we do not laugh on the field.''

Rennes, level on points with Valenciennes but three places lower in the table due to goal difference, will also be looking to respond from a 1-0 defeat at Nice.

They too will be without several first team-players, however, with defenders Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik and Jebbour suspended, midfielders Jean Makoun and John Boye both out with thigh injuries, while Victor Montano and Abdoulaye Sane are doubtful.
