Brest v Paris Saint-Germain : Preview

Carlo Ancelotti has demanded his Paris St Germain side finish 2012 with a victory to reinforce their position at the top of Ligue 1.

Last weekend's controversial 1-0 win over Lyon, in which PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic escaped punishment after treading on opposing defender Dejan Lovren's head, took Ancelotti's men above Les Gones to the summit on goal difference.

Tomorrow's opponents Brest lie 13th in the table and Ancelotti has called for one final push before the winter break.

He said at a pre-match press conference: ``It is the last game before Christmas, we have got back to the top of the league after a difficult period and it will be very important for us to back this up.

``I think the players are in need of a break, they need to recuperate a bit. Physically, the players have not been as good this season.''

One player already on his break is want-away midfielder Nene. The Brazilian, absent tomorrow with a calf injury, wrote on his personal website this week that he hopes to leave the club in the January transfer window.

But Ancelotti said: ``For now we have no news on Nene. He cannot play tomorrow and he is away on holiday, we will discuss his return with him.

``He has not asked to leave. I do not have the time to look on the internet to see what he has said, he can speak directly with me or the club and he has not done that.''

The Italian's opposite number Landry Chauvin admits his side will have to produce ``something sensational'' to get a positive result from the game.

``It is not the same, it is a special match and we will need an exceptional performance,'' he said.

``If we win, we will have achieved something the players can celebrate for the whole weekend. If we get a draw, that also will be something sensational.''

They will have to do so with Larsen Toure (thigh) and Benoit Lesoimier (calf), on top of the ongoing absence of Alexandre Alphonse (Achilles) and Adama Ba (back).
