Brest v Nice: Preview

Nice hope to overcome the absences of key personnel at Brest in Ligue 1 tomorrow.

Captain Didier Degard is absent with a groin injury sustained in the first half at Bordeaux, while the visitors will also be without Mahamane Traore, who is at the African Nations Cup with Mali, and the suspended Renato Civelli for the trip to Brittany.

Following losses to AS Nancy, in the Coupe de France, and Bordeaux, coach Claude Puel is eager for his side to return to winning ways.

``We are deprived of our 'lung' in midfield,'' Puel said on nicematin.com.

``We have solutions but it is true that you can not afford to have two or three players less.

``We have the answers in the group to overcome these defections.

``For us to quickly find new understanding and balance within the team, the group must work more. Everyone should try to do more for the team.''

Nice have won four of their last six in Ligue 1, losing only to title-chasing Lyon and Bordeaux, with whom they are level on points entering the 23rd week of competition.

Puel will hope his side have enough to overcome Brest, who are 14th in the standings.

The Bretons have lost their last four games at their Stade Francis-Le Ble home and, in the 11 games in all competitions since their most recent home victory, have won four times, twice in the league and twice in the Coupe de France.

Brest must do without Eden Ben Basat. With nine goals in Ligue 1 this season, the Israeli striker has scored 40 per cent of his team's goals, but he has joined Toulouse.
