AC Ajaccio v Lyon: Preview

Lyon coach Remi Garde is hoping his players can quickly switch their attention back to on-field matters as the footballing world resumes business as usual at the end of the January transfer window.

Les Gones could not escape the frantic goings-on of the last few days, with Brazilian Michel Bastos joining Schalke on loan with attempts to bring in cover in midfield falling short.

Garde's men will now refocus on their Ligue 1 campaign and tomorrow's trip to Ajaccio, where they will look to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

And the Lyon coach is hoping recent events have not unsettled his squad too much.

``The transfer window does not create good working conditions,'' he said on www.olweb.fr. ``Players are always a little disturbed.

``We have lost Michel and have not strengthened, but a page has been turned.

``I now want to work and grow with this squad, there are many young players.

``I hope they are aware there are two great challenges facing us over the next four months: Ligue 1 and the Europa League.

``Our first priority is Ajaccio. Like all away games it will be complicated and difficult.''

Lisandro Lopez remains sidelined with a calf injury for Lyon, while there are also doubts over the fitness of fellow striker Jimmy Briand.

Ajaccio have also been busy in the transfer market with the arrival of Ronald Zubar from English side Wolves. The former Marseille defender could make his debut tomorrow.

However, the Corsicans have lost Karim El-Hany to FC Brussels and midfielder Carl Medjani to Monaco - a deal which was particularly emotional for club president Alain Orsoni.

``It was hard to deny him the move after everything he has done for the club,'' said Orsoni.

``Carl gave us a great deal of satisfaction and he left us on very friendly terms.''

Ajaccio are without a win in five league matches and lie 15th in the table, just two points above the drop zone.
