Marseille v AS Nancy Lorraine: Preview

Marseille coach Elie Baup is confident his transfer dealings will ensure OM's momentum for the rest of the season as they approach tomorrow's Ligue 1 meeting with bottom club Nancy.

Baup revealed he had several sleepless nights during January but believes his side's challenge for the league title has now been revived.

Marseille are currently third in the overall standings, three points behind Paris St Germain and Lyon who are both locked on a tally of 45 from 22 games.

``It kept me awake for a month,'' Baup told OM.net about his brief battle with insomnia during the transfer period.

``It was a hectic transfer window with four arrivals and departures but it is also interesting for our group until the end of the season.

``During the first half of the season, the squad has often been limited in terms of numbers, but these arrivals have expanded our capabilities to defend ourselves in the fight and keep our momentum sharp in Ligue 1.''

Midfielders Foued Khadir and Alaixys Romao, winger Modou Sougou and goalkeeper Brice Samba all joined Marseille in January, with Khadir likely to start this weekend.

Baup said: ``Khadir will be in the group on Sunday for the match against Nancy. I'll check on him today.''

Romao will be unavailable, however, as he is still of African Nations Cup duty with Togo who will play Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals.

Nancy are rock bottom of Ligue 1 and six from safety but will be looking to secure their third consecutive win in all competitions.

Les Chardons beat Lorient 2-1 last weekend and knocked Nice out of the Coupe de France on penalties.

Nancy defender Salif Sane told the club's website: ``It will be a good test to see where we are and what is what.

``It is still two wins, even if the Coupe de France is not the championship.

``It is a good time for us so we must continue on that path.''
