Bastia v Nice: Preview

(Correction to story which originally ran at 1511 as 1 SOCCER Fra-Nice Preview; amending keyword and first two pars)

Bastia v Nice

Midfielder Julien Sable swapped Nice for Bastia last summer and will face his former club for the first time tomorrow, looking to derail their top-six bid in the Mediterranean derby.

The 32-year-old made in excess of 100 appearances for Les Aiglons before heading to Corsica, and will welcome his old employers to the Stade Armand Cesari tomorrow with the visitors sitting in sixth place in the Ligue 1 standings.

For their part, Bastia are in mid-table and not fancied to get a positive result against Nice, but Sable, who is well aware of what this game means to both sides, is hoping that a fiery atmosphere can get his side going.

``This is football, where warriors come together in an indescribable atmosphere,'' he said on Nice's official website.

``It will be a great experience for everyone. Something unforgettable. There is a lot of respect among the players, but for 90 minutes everyone will fight for their camp.''

A move to Bastia has presented Sable with a new challenge, with last year's Ligue 2 champions more focused on survival than European qualification.

They are making a reasonable fist of that fight so far - three points and four places lie between them and the drop zone - and Sable is clear why they are doing well.

``We are a group and we share things together,'' he said..

``This is a team where at times we are more successful than others, but this is a very rewarding experience.''

Nice may sit sixth, but a draw with Lorient last time out has left them vulnerable. Bordeaux are a point behind them, while Lorient are three adrift.
