Eintracht Frankfurt's Timothy Chandler gets one-match ban after red card

United States international Timothy Chandler has been given a one-match ban following his red card in Eintracht Frankfurt's 0-0 draw with Hoffenheim last Friday.

Chandler, 26, was sent off eight minutes from the end when he pushed attacker Sandro Wagner amid a dispute involving several players.

The decision surprised many onlookers, and referee Christian Dingert was later criticised for a performance for which he apologised.

Wagner told reporters after the match: "Stuff like that happens all the time. I hope he does not get a long ban."

On Monday, the German FA (DFB) imposed the minimum penalty on Chandler and suspended him for one match for "unsporting behaviour."

That means the defender will miss the home match against Wolfsburg.

Eintracht Frankfurt are currently fifth in Bundesliga, a point ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who they beat 2-1 at the Waldstadion recently.
