Mohamed Salah wants Egypt to learn lessons from gruelling international break

Mohamed Salah believes that Egypt will be stronger for the lessons learned during a gruelling international break in which they lost both of their fixtures.

The Pharaohs started strongly against Portugal on Friday, taking the lead through Salah, but two Cristiano Ronaldo headers in stoppage time ensured a come-from-behind triumph from the European champions.

Egypt remained in Zurich to take on Greece, who failed to qualify for the global football showpiece in Russia, but delivered a lacklustre display on Tuesday and were defeated 1-0 after Nikolaos Karelis scored the only goal of the game.

"The two games were very important and gave us good experiences," Salah told ONSport. "[Coach] Hector Cuper will now evaluate all the players who were in the camp, especially as this was the last camp before the World Cup and the next one will be in May.

"All the players turned up in a good way and what's important are the lessons we learned during this camp," he added. "It's now the manager's turn to evaluate everything."

After starring against Portugal, Salah was rested for the draw against Greece, with Cuper resisting the urge to turn to his star forward as the North Africans sought a goal in the second half.

Next up, the Pharaohs will meet Kuwait in a friendly on May 26, before World Cup tune-ups against Colombia and Belgium in early June.
