USSF, promoter in court clash over international games

A lawyer for promoter Relevent Sports has asked a judge to order the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) to sanction international league matches in the United States.

The USSF last month denied an application by Relevent Sports, owned by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, to have Ecuador's Barcelona and Guayaquil clubs play at Miami Gardens, Florida, on May 5.

U.S. Soccer cites FIFA guidelines over blocked Relevent Sports Miami match

The U.S. Soccer Federation said FIFA guidelines prevented it from approving an Ecuadorian league match in Miami one day after Relevent Sports sued the USSF over the its refusal to sanction the game.

In a statement given to ESPN, the USSF said it "reached out to FIFA and verified the FIFA Council's October 2018 confirmation stating the sporting principle that official league matches must be played within the territory of the respective member association."

Swansea's Jefferson Montero joins Emelec on sub-loan from Getafe

Jefferson Montero has returned to Emelec, in Ecuador, on a sub-loan from Getafe.

Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero has joined former club Emelec on a sub-loan from Spanish side Getafe for the remainder of the season.

The Ecuador international moved to Getafe on a season-long loan in the summer but has been limited to just 55 minutes in four substitute appearances.

Swansea permitted Getafe to complete the deal, subject to international clearance, though Montero will remain on Getafe's books, according to a statement from Swansea.

FC Dallas loaned out one of its new designated players on Friday, before Anibal Chala ever played a game for the MLS club.
