Ruben becomes third Kluivert to turn professional, signs deal with FC Utrecht

Ruben Kluivert is the latest member of the family to turn professional after signing a contract with Eredivisie side FC Utrecht.

The defender follows in the footsteps of his father Patrick, who is academy director at Barcelona, and brother Justin who plays for AS Roma.

- All major completed transfer deals

Kluivert, 18, has signed a deal until 2022 and has compared himself to Liverpool and Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk.

"I feel great at FC Utrecht, playing football here and my family supports me being here," he told the club's website.

"Virgil van Dijk is my example. He is so complete; fast, strong in the air and on the ground. I see a resemblance between us.

There could be another Kluivert to sign a professional deal in the future with Shane playing for the Barca academy.

"My brothers and father are super proud of me," he added. "They knew this was going to happen, I've spoken to them of course.

"I hope I will follow their footsteps and will play in Spain or Italy but first focus on FC Utrecht."
