Dutch club Den Haag fined over racist chants from fans

The Dutch football association has fined Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag over incidents of racist chanting from its fans.

Sections of the Den Haag home support were alleged to have made racist chants during the game against Ajax on Jan. 7.

Ajax's 19-year-old midfielder Riechedly Bazoer said after the game he had been subject to some of the abuse and had brought it to the attention of the referee.

The KNVB began a probe into the events, while Den Haag said they had identified 22 people involved.

On Tuesday, the KNVB proposed a fine of €10,000 (£7,800), of which half would be suspended for a year.

Ahttp://www.knvb.nl/nieuws/betaald-voetbal/uitsluitingen/17068/schikkingsvoorstel-ado-den-haag-vanwege-racistische statement on the association's website read: "The independent prosecutor for professional football has sent a settlement proposal to ADO Den Haag because of racist chants during the match ADO Den Haag - Ajax on 17 January 2016.

"The proposal consists of a fine of 10,000 euros of which 5,000 is suspended for one year. ADO Den Haag have until Monday, March 14th at 12 pm to inform if the club agree with the settlement proposal.''
