Brighton sign Alireza Jahanbakhsh from AZ Alkmaar to club-record deal

Brighton and Hove Albion have signed winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for a club-record fee on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Iran international signed a five-year contract and becomes the eighth new arrival of the summer at the Amex Stadium.

Financial terms were not disclosed but British media reported Brighton agreed on a deal worth £17 million ($22.36m) for Jahanbakhsh, eclipsing the £14m paid for forward Jurgen Locadia to PSV Eindhoven in January.

He has 41 caps for...

Southampton's Clasie joins Feyenoord on season-long loan

Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie will join Dutch side Feyenoord on a season-long loan deal, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Dutch international returns to Feyenoord, where he made 155 appearances over four years, before arriving at St Mary's in 2015.

Last season, Clasie was away on loan at Club Brugge and helped them win the Belgian first division title.

Clasie has made 49 appearances for Southampton but manager Mark Hughes has opted against bringing him back into his...

Barcelona told Ajax's Frenkie de Jong will not leave this summer

Former Barcelona star and current La Liga ambassador Patrick Kluivert shares his thoughts on his son Justin's move from Ajax to Roma.
While Andres Iniesta may have moved on from Barcelona, new signing Arthur discusses how he hopes to emulate his habits and successes.
ESPN FC's Stewart Robson takes a look at the latest rumours in Transfer Rater, featuring Ivan Perisic, Gonzalo Higuain and more.
Gab Marcotti says N'Golo Kante wouldn't fit at Barcelona, but Craig Burley and Shaka Hislop think he could be a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Barcelona have been warned by Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars that Frenkie de Jong is not for sale this summer, but a deal next year is possible.

De Jong, 21, has drawn interest from Barca, and Mundo Deportivo claimed this week that the Spanish champions will push to sign the midfielder during the current transfer window.

However, Ajax, who have already sold Justin Kluivert to Roma this summer, say they will stand firm in keeping their remaining assets at the club.
