Derby manager Frank Lampard accepts FA charge after sending off

Derby manager Frank Lampard has accepted a Football Association charged for improper conduct following his sending off during the 1-0 defeat to Rotherham on Saturday.

Lampard reacted angrily at the referee Peter Bankes' failure to award his side a penalty, while Rotherham were awarded one which ultimately led to the game's only goal -- and was dismissed on 77 minutes.

The former Chelsea midfielder could face a touchline ban but is more likely to receive a fine. Having only started his managerial career in the summer, this is his first-ever charge.

"If it is [a red card] once I stepped out of the technical area, then their manager should have been sent off, and their assistant, my assistant, and all of us, because we all did during the game," Lampard said after the match. "I didn't get a word from the ref.

"I need to go back to the rulebook myself because I do not want to be leaving the game.

"I was upset with a handball. If those are the rules, managers will get sent off every game. I like communication with officials but there was none of that. It wasn't a penalty. They got a soft one but we didn't get one."

Their third defeat of the season saw Derby drop to seventh on goal difference.
