Clarence Seedorf among Deportivo La Coruna job candidates - sources

Deportivo La Coruna are in talks with Clarence Seedorf with the aim of the Dutchman becoming the outfit's third coach of the season, club sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

The La Liga side, beaten 5-0 at Real Sociedad on Friday, sacked Cristobal Parralo 48 hours later.

Parralo had replaced Pepe Mel, who was dismissed in October, and mustered just two wins while losing eight of his 13 league games in charge.

The deal is expected to be completed in the coming hours and Seedorf will become Deportivo's seventh coach in the space of four years.

Clarence Seedorf has won four Champions League titles as a player with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan.

It will mark the return to Spain for the 41-year-old, who played four seasons at Real Madrid in the 1990s and won a Spanish title and a Champions League crown among other trophies.

Seedorf coached AC Milan for 22 games in 2014 before a 13-game spell with Chinese League One side Shenzen FC, which ended in 2016.

Deportivo have reportedly turned to Seedorf after their first two choices, ex-Deportivo defender Martin Lasarte and his Uruguay compatriot Diego Alonso, turned down the offer. They are currently 18th in the standings and without a win in seven league games.

Seedorf will have one week before making his coaching debut, with the club set to host Real Betis on Feb. 12.
