D.C. United keeper Bill Hamid to miss 4-6 weeks after surgeries

D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid will miss four to six weeks after having hand and knee surgeries.

The reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year underwent both operations last week in Maryland.

He had his meniscus repaired in his right knee and the flexor tendon of a knuckle in his left hand was released, the club said.

Hamid, 24, has recorded six shutouts this season for D.C., which leads the Eastern Conference by nine points.

He leads MLS is save percentage at .819 and goals against average at .750.

Hamid has not played since June 27, a goalless draw in Toronto. Since then, Andrew Dykstra has started in defeats to Philadelphia in a U.S. Open Cup match and to Seattle in the league.
