Brian McBride says young United States players need to experience the successes and failures of European competition if they're to succeed on the international level.
Gonzalo Veron sealed New York's comeback and the No. 6 seed in the playoffs as DC United bid farewell to RFK Stadium.

United States international goalkeeper Bill Hamid signed for Danish side FC Midtjylland on Monday, a day after bidding farewell to D.C. United.

Hamid, 26, who confirmed last week that he would leave MLS for a move to Europe, was pictured signing his Midtjylland contract in an Instagram photo posted by his agency on Monday, although the club has not yet confirmed the signing.

Midtjylland have played in European competition in each of the past four years, though they only reached the group stage in...

Brondby fined for fans throwing dead rats at FC Copenhagen players

Dead rats were thrown at FC Copenhagen player Ludwig Augustinsson.

Brondby fans who threw three dead rats at opposing players during a game have earned their club a 150,000-kroner ($17,300) fine from the Denmark football federation.

The fine was also for fans using fireworks.

The DBU says Brondby fans threw the dead rodents toward two FC Copenhagen players during an April 17 game between the Copenhagen clubs.

Copenhagen, who this month retained their Superliga title, won 1-0.

Throwing the rats was "an aggravating circumstance," the DBU said on Thursday.

Dead rats were thrown at FC Copenhagen player Ludwig Augustinsson.

Brondby have condemned the fan who threw dead rats at an FC Copenhagen player during a 1-0 home derby defeat on Monday afternoon.

The four dead rodents were hurled at goal-scorer Benjamin Verbic and Ludwig Augustinsson as they prepared to take a corner in the closing moments of the Superliga clash.

Augustinsson attempted to kick the rats away from the playing area before stewards arrived to deal with the situation.

In a statement, Brondby sports director Troels Bech voiced his anger at the incident,...
