Love in CSKA Moscow comeback

Vagner Love has returned to former club CSKA Moscow after signing a three-and-a-half year deal with the Russian Premier League leaders.

Vagner Love has already scored 117 goals for CSKA Moscow

Love, 28, first played for CSKA between 2004 and 2011, where he helped them become the first Russian club to win a European trophy in 2005, lifting the UEFA Cup.

The striker then joined Flamengo for €10 million last January, however, the move failed to work out for him and he has returned to Moscow just 12 months later.

"I'm happy to come back home," Vagner was quoted as saying by Sport-Express. "I want to start practising as soon as possible to continue scoring as I did in previous years and to help my team to win again.

"I can assure CSKA supporters that I will never again ask the club chiefs to release me. I will leave only when the CSKA president tells me: 'It's enough, Vagner'."

CSKA welcomed the return on their official website.

"Vagner Love - the best scorer in the club's newest history (after the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991) - will wear number nine," a statement read.

Vagner, who has scored 117 goals in 244 games for CSKA, will try to help them in their bid to win the league title for the first time since 2006. They currently lead big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala by two points with 11 games remaining.

The Russian league season resumes in mid-March after a three-month break.
