Crystal Palace considering Frank de Boer future after poor start - sources

Crystal Palace are considering manager Frank de Boer's position after just three Premier League games in charge, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

De Boer, who took over in the summer following the departure of Sam Allardyce, has presided over three league defeats without a goal.

The 47-year-old has tried to change Palace's style of play but the players have so far struggled to adapt to his tactics and there are concerns that he is struggling with the demands of Premier League football.

De Boer's side lost 3-0 at home to newly promoted Huddersfield on the opening day and, after a battling 1-0 loss at Liverpool, were beaten again at Selhurst Park as Swansea won 2-0 on Saturday.

The Palace hierarchy fear the club could be involved in another relegation battle if they do not act and are actively considering their options.

Palace have made just three signings this summer, with the squad thin on numbers ahead of this week's transfer deadline.

But former Palace boss Iain Dowie told talkSPORT that De Boer should be given more time.

He said: "Of course it is about winning, but you can't ask a manager to come into the club and change his philosophy overnight.

"You have got to give the man time to develop the style of play. It is histrionics to say it should be back to [the playing style used by] Sam Allardyce."
